How much do you know about  Dolby Atmos speakers ?

Speakers with Dolby Atmos are designed to conduct sound upwards, creating and reproducing extremely realistic overhead sound by bouncing off the ceiling. There are two versions of speakers with Dolby Atmos:

Integrated units that also include traditional forward-firing speakers Add-on modules for upward-firing elements only, which can be placed above existing speakers or on other adjacent surfaces Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbars Includes up-firing speakers. While two Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, modules, or overhead speakers will provide an engaging experience, we recommend four when possible. While this setup will provide an engaging experience, where possible, we recommend using four Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, modules, or overhead speakers. This results in more precise positioning and a realistic overhead sound. Whichever option you choose, our guide will give you recommended placements for the best experience.

Dolby Atmos basic layout

Each 5.1.2 system features two top speakers, or two Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers or modules.

Dolby Atmos Speaker Setup: What the 5.1.2 Description Means

[5] It represents the number of traditional surround speakers (front, center, and surround).

[.1] The number in the middle indicates how many powered subwoofers can be connected to the receiver.

[.2] The last number represents the number of top- or upward-firing speakers in a Dolby Atmos® setup.

If you are using speakers with Dolby Atmos, place them in the front left and right positions.

If you are using an add-on module, place it over the front left and right speakers, or within three feet of those speakers. Be sure to have the drive facing the ceiling.

You'll get the best sound when the front and surround speakers are at or slightly above your seated ear level. Wall-mounted surround sound can be positioned higher, but speakers (especially modules with Dolby Atmos) should not be higher than half the height of the wall.

Ceiling Heights and Materials

The ideal ceiling height is between 7.5 and 12 feet, with a maximum recommended height of 14 feet. Ceilings should be flat and made of materials that do not reflect sound waves, such as drywall or drywall.
