The Wireless Speakers and Audio Association (WiSA) plans to release a firmware update to make Dolby Atmos-compatible transmissions in WiSA-enabled speakers and transmitters.

According to WiSA, this is a technical update based on user needs to simplify the process of creating 3D immersive sound in the home for WiSA Ready and WiSA certified products.

Meanwhile, WiSA announced four new additions: audio design and engineering firm Sonavox, UK-based Lithe Audio, Taiwanese Zinwell and high-end speaker maker Heavenly Soundworks. To date, WiSA has received support from more than 60 consumer electronics brands such as Denon, Harman, GoldenEar Technology, JBL, Klipsch, LG, Marantz, Pioneer, Onkyo, Polk, THX and Xbox
