Here is an opinion for you who are about to install a home theater , When buying a subwoofer, you must also include the cost of sound insulation measures, otherwise don't buy it, because you can't use it even if you buy it, and your family and neighbors will have opinions on you. Unless you have already prepared for soundproofing.


The first trick: sound insulation of doors and windows


We know that the sound insulation effect of ordinary doors and windows is not high. We often hear the sound coming from the outside, and the low-frequency sound travels a long distance, and the interference effect is even more significant. So what should we do? Make the window double-layer, that is, add another layer on the existing window. Of course, the window must have good sealing performance at this time. This is the method with the least cost and good effect. For the sound insulation treatment of the door, a hollow double-layer door with a cavity can be adopted, the panel is made of plywood, and sound-absorbing cotton is laid in the middle. If the door panel is a multi-layer composite sandwich door, the door seam should be made into a bevel, and a blanket or rubber strip should be added to seal it, so that it has a relatively good effect!


The second measure: sound insulation treatment of the wall


On the basis of the original partition wall, a keel was added to form a sound insulation wall stuffed with polyester fiber sound-absorbing cotton. If you want to be simple, evenly spread a layer of cement on both sides of the built brick wall. Increasing its surface density is the most effective and economical way to increase the sound insulation. The gaps and holes that leak sound also affect the sound insulation of the room, especially the sound insulation of the intermediate frequency part, and must be sealed. If it is a light wall, a low-density gypsum board or cement fiber pressurized board can also be added on the inside. Of course, this trick is generally difficult to implement in the living room, and the focus is on doors and windows.


The third measure: sound insulation treatment of the floor


A layer of high-density glass wool damping cushion is laid on the structural floor, and then a 40mm thick concrete floor is made. The weighted impact sound pressure level can be less than 60dB. Some suggest laying river stones + sand on the ground, then grinding 3cm of cement on it, and then laying the floor. Of course, if the wooden floor is nailed into a cavity, it will have a good absorption capacity for frequencies below 100Hz, and the low-frequency effect of the sound will be very good. And laying small stones under the floor can just fill the gaps that are prone to standing waves and resonance, and even overcome the disadvantages of hollow wooden floors.


The fourth measure: sound insulation treatment of the ceiling


Many people want to make a suspended ceiling when decorating, but the selected ceiling material is relatively thin, especially the three-plywood is more likely to cause resonance. Now the common way to deal with it is to use light gypsum to make uneven and curved boards and install them on the ceiling, which is not easy to cause reflections, does not reduce the actual height of the room, and is more economical. When the floor height exceeds 3 meters, it can be composed of evenly drilled lightweight gypsum board (a special perforated sound-absorbing board) and gypsum inlays with uneven surfaces, which is both beautiful and architectural. Some friends also use keels, ultra-fine glass, and plywood to make a flat ceiling, which also becomes a thin-plate resonant sound-absorbing device to meet the building sound effect. However, the author thinks that, generally speaking, the ceiling is best to have both sound absorption and sound insulation. And if you want better sound insulation, it is best to use professional sound insulation materials to make special sound insulation ceilings.


The fifth measure: the sound source is the sound insulation treatment of the subwoofer


It is to put a granite plate with a thickness of more than 4cm on the subwoofer, because the mass inertia of the granite plate can absorb part of the vibration energy of the subwoofer, and then place a flexible buffer layer such as rubber/carpet between the granite plate and the floor, so as to avoid The subwoofer is directly coupled with the floor, which can effectively isolate the bass from being transmitted to the downstairs, which will greatly reduce the impact on the downstairs residents. At the same time, the granite plate on the subwoofer pad is helpful to improve the sound quality.
