WiSA devices allow wireless transmission of TV audio to speakers
WiSA introduces SoundSend, a device that lets you wirelessly stream TV audio to WiSA-compliant speakers from Harman Kardon, B&O, Klipsch, and more.
The new WiSA SoundSend can receive sound from a TV via HDMI ARC or optical interface (with limitations), and then wirelessly transmit the TV audio to WiSA-compliant speakers.
Speakers from companies such as Bang & Olufsen, Harman Kardon, Klipsch, Savant, Dynaudio and Enclave Audio all claim WiSA support, and some A/V receivers and TVs also support the feature.
WiSA SoundSend supports audio output up to 24bit / 96kHz, and it can transmit up to eight channels in Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus surround sound. It can also decode and stream Dolby Atmos, though it doesn't support DTS.
The system can be set up and fine-tuned via a mobile app, and since WiSA operates on its own dedicated frequency band, it doesn't require WiFi or any other kind of network to work.
My Zone is one of SoundSend's features that easily aligns each speaker to the listener's position, creating an optimal viewing point and completing the system for the best entertainment experience.
WiSA was jointly developed by a number of companies that jointly created the over-the-air TV audio standard. There are also proprietary protocols on the market, such as Apple AirPlay for over-the-air TV audio with Apple TV.
